The price should be legitimate though. The Aliexpress store is one of the Topping authorized sellers.

You think so? The AK4497 costs $50 per chip on digikey, that's $100 for chips alone.
Phew, looks like Topping going High End now. LOL

End of year release? Sounds unlikely. I also doubt they pay digikey prices :)

With plethora of features on board, that's not a bad price tbh. It seems that this might be the cheapest dual-mono AK4497-based DAC yet.
let’s hope khadas also plan to release their next akm 4497 with same performance but half price:p

They're certainly not paying the "1 chip" order price

Always bringing something solid to contribute, thank you :)
Don't be toxic. You misinterpreted what I wrote. Get over it.

I mentioned that 1 chip price only to give the impression of how expensive the Ak4497 really is. Not implying Topping would pay them at that price. Nonetheless, bulk prices or not, they still cost >$80 for dacs alone in that unit. In a grand scheme of things, $20 prices difference in BOM in a $600 product is not very significant to me.

A $600 DAC is pretty ambitious for Topping. I just hope they don't cut any corners and performance is exceptional.

Its half the price of SMSL's flagship product, the D-1. ( D-1 is on dual ES9038Pro chips though ).
If it comes close to the performance of the D-1, I would say its a home-run product from the value point of view.

Their preliminary specs are nothing exceptional compared to their other products:
Topping D50 : SINAD = 106dB(A), SNR = 122dB(A)
Topping DX7s: SINAD = 106dB(A), SNR = 122dB(A) unbalanced / 123dB(A) unbalanced
Topping D70 : SINAD = 106dB(A?), SNR = 123dB(A?)

Compared to the DX7 it does not have a headphone output but has Bluetooth and I2S inputs and... that's about it.

I bet this time SINAD will be larger than 110dB
