Okay I need a demo of this prowess....I'll bring whatever food/drink you like (well, within limits, I need to share :) )
Haha.... Maybe sometimes after covid is over.....We should get together to do all sorts of listening tests.

Thanks for testing! Wow, so just directly from laptop jack out?
No, this thing has its own dongle. It costs just $29 and you get a headphone, mic and audio interface:

So nothing fancy for sure.

5ms is very easy for me, listened with my LS50 desktop setup

Sync Delay (5ms)
Correct — Current score: 10/10 (100%) — Confidence : 99.9%
It feels like you have successfully passed the test!

2ms I could not detect at quick this morning, but might try it one evening with headphones.

About 2 ms, but I don't think I pass 1 ms.

1 ms was hard but not impossible, I changed vote from 2 to 1 ms. Laptop to DT-150 headphones.

Actually 2ms and especially 1ms were surprisingly easy too when you know what to listen for, here the result of the very first run:

Delay (1ms)
Correct — Current score: 9/10 (90%) — Confidence : 98.92%
It feels like you have successfully passed the test!

(also run via my KEF LS50 desktop setup)

Thanks all for testing!

It would seem for many others, including me, using phone is very easy to go all the way to 1ms.

Using cheap headset with own dongle via laptop also easy for Amir.

However, using a supposed transparent Gustard x16 and Gustard H16 combo was not as easy (10/10 for 10ms, and 14/20 for 5ms, didn't attempt 2ms or 1ms) for me, using same headphones.

I wonder why.

I think you are the only one using your speakers to run tests. Would you please let me know your full chain?

Thanks!

Since Amir could get good results for 2ms using cheap conference headset, I decided to try using Plantronics USB conference headset with it's own dongle with Windows 10 desktop, playback via Chrome.

Now I could do 5ms 10/10 with Windows 10.
: )

I still wonder why Android smartphone is so much easier.

Am always too lazy too take out my HD600 + Focusrite 2i4 from my closet as I prefer listening with loudspeakers, use "cheapo chains" as I don't hear significant differences in electronics, currently the desktop LS50 are just driven by a cheap Aiyima A8 connected with USB to my PC and use some EQ (with Equalizer APO) for room correction.

Strange....

Gustard X16 to Gustard H16: could only do about 70% for 5ms. No double clicking noise that I could hear.
KTB to Gustard H16: could only do about 75% for 5ms. No double clicking noise that I could hear.
Gustard X16 to Topping L30: Just checked sound and did not try running tests. No double clicking noise that I could hear for 5ms to 1ms.

KTB to Topping L30 on the other hand is very easy. I could hear double clicking noise just like using my Samsung Note 9 phone, all the way down to 1ms. I could easily pass 5ms, 2ms, and 1ms, using same laptop, browser, and headphones. I wonder why?

Since I could do 1ms via phone and laptop now, I have updated my poll result to 1ms.

Here are my KTB to Topping L30 results:

Can someone explain to me why I sensed clues differently when using different DAC + AMP combo?

I added Topping E30 (DAC) and Sabaj a10h (amp) to the mix and got some interesting results.

Here are all the findings so far (all using Hifiman HE400SE as headphone):

Able to get passing results all the way down to 1ms (due to ability to sense certain "double clicks" kind of clues from delay file):
*Samsung Note 9 -> jack out
*Windows 10 laptop ->Chrome to the following combo:
KTB->Topping L30
KTB->sabaj a10h
Topping E30->Topping L30
Topping E30->sabaj a10h

No noticeable double clicks kind of clues from delay file starting from either 10ms or 5ms,, thus no solid passing results from 5ms and lower:
Windows 10 laptop->Chrome to the following combo:
KTB->Gustard H16
Gustard X16->Gustard H16
Topping E30->Gustard H16
Gustard X16->Topping L30
Gustard X16->sabaj a10h

Thanks!

Here is my setups for testing.

The simple 2 ways timing online blind test is here:

I tried a while back using smartphone and could do 10/10 for 10ms. Lower was tougher for me. The site does not show the statistics of all those who tried. So I am curious how ASR members would do.

My screenshot is at the bottom of the post here:

Please try if have time. Please post screenshot if possible. Thanks!

Update:
When using laptop to Gustard combo to headphones to test today, I can pass down to 10ms using Chrome browser. Only got 14/20 for 5ms.

When using smartphone (Samsung Note 9) with headphones, able to go all the way to 1ms.

Using the worse results of the two methods, I am voting 10ms in the poll.

Update 2:
Since Amir did very well using cheap USB conference headset, I tried with Plantronics USB conference headset via Window 10 desktop via Chrome,, and able to do 10/10 for 5ms.
I am changing my vote to 5ms. Although I could easily pass 1ms via Android phone, I will use the worse of Android and Windows results for now.

Cool!

As you can see from my post above yours, 5 combos I could get to 1ms. The other 5 combos not as good. I wonder why my Gustard DAC and amp not giving clues as well as other combos.

May I know if you also listened for "double clicks" kind of clues for the delay file?

Thanks!

Not double clicks, but a simple sound pattern that changed with delay. I found the 1ms easier than 2ms. The 2ms one I took twice, first time I got 8/10, second 9/10. The 1ms test I could do all day, the sound pattern is just easier for me to hear.

I see. Hmm, maybe my "double click" kind of clues is your "sound pattern change", just different way of expressing changes heard.

Thanks!

No, it was more tonality than timing, like Amir said. Almost like the difference between Oh and Ah sounds.
