Wonder if it's going to support the full 1411kbps to be unconditionally lossless instead of being "lossless if your music compresses well enough" like the new aptX.

Lossless will be a "killer feature"? True wireless IEMs have many technical challenges. Lossless isn't the limiting factor and the greatest gains will come from elsewhere.
I had the same thought. I highly doubt lossless is going to be responsible for much improvement at all, but it will definitely sell more units.

To be complete aptX 'lossless' as codec is a decade old it's just not until now that Qualcomm have decided to push it over Bluetooth.

So they just had it kicking around in their dev labs for a decade or is there something else that used it?

Qualcomm is releasing a new Bluetooth chipset capable of up to 1 Mb/s transmission. Combined with lossless compression, it can transmit lossless CD quality (1.44 Mb/s) over Bluetooth. There had been something called "aptX Lossless" (aka aptX HD) before but it was a misleading marketing term and wasn't capable of lossless CD quality.

AptXHD was already excellent. The new chipset should be even better.

Compute processing power of the devices receiving and transmitting data has always been a key constraint of bluetooth - we are probably at the place where the compute power has become cheap enough to finally role this out widespread

Or just energy efficient enough as most bluetooth usage is to mobile devices with batteries.
