As the thread title says, every now and then a talent show springs a surprise. Such as the singer whom the judges made sing a capella because they thought she was lip syncing somehow, or the lovely young woman who "sang" in a death metal growl. And then there's this (warning, opera):

'

She was even more astounding in the semis and final, and won.
Less than a year later, with Andre Rieu and full orchestra in front of 10,000 people:

You wonder how it's possible for these little girls to develop that kind of voice and control?

In Amira's case, she was born with it but had no idea she could do it until she tried. Her brother was playing violin as part of Queen's Day celebrations, she wanted to do something too. She decided she would sing, and trawled Youtube looking for something suitable. At the time of the talent show she apparently had had no training.

You've probably heard of performers referred to as "old souls," where they evoke echoes of famous performers from the past. For example, the opera singer Amira Willighagen (clips upthread) is often compared to Maria Callas. This is one such. I think the judges' comments were spot on:
