Other than limited dynamic range, what characteristic do all low DR value music share in common?

So does all low DR value music sound bad in your system?Dallas, I can't speak for "our" systems ... only my own.
Spot on, Michael! You've almost perfectly quoted my POV - the interesting thing is, that I get blasted by one and sundry for daring to express that view, probably because I don't use a humungous, balls rattling system to get there ... boys and girls, the answer is - that there's more than one way ...IME, systems can be designed so that all musical genre sound great, without compromise. Just imagine a system in which all recordings sound correct, even the ones we once thought were "bad recordings." Can we accept that there's no such thing as a "bad recoding?" All recordings were meant to sound the way they do for a reason. The artist is always sovereign in his/her artistic endeavor. It's up to us to figure out how to make their art come alive in our systems.
Michael.
