In some cases I prefer the mid range drivers, paper cones and the like, as their issues are often easier to deal with in DSP, and they don't have crazy resonance spikes at break up.
Yes indeed. Their disadvantage is that they can't work over such wide frequency ranges or at high amplitudes as their exotic brethren, but DSP allows us to use 'more ways' without penalty, which cancels out that disadvantage.
