OK have to run to the show. And the internet speed is down to a crawl....

Have another 50 or so pictures to finish off the first day.... HOpe you are liking this new format.

Thanks Amir. I actually prefer separate threads to make it easier to find and discuss specific manufacturers but as an overview this is OK. Can always do a search.

Glad you liked Roger's ESLs; I never did make the drive to visit him, and at this point am waiting to see how the Revels work out.

Thanks for the report.

Is it possible to have a picture of "unveiled" Magnepan room?

Pearl Speakers & McIntosh:
Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley. https://shz.am/t219126

Excellent track but vocals just sounded strange to me on these speakers.

yeah, hard to say if its his inflection or what, but not very pleasing voice really imo.

My pleasure. They did not do any unveiling. I will go there again and see if they let me take a picture.

It does go faster for me in this format since I don't have to create a new thread. But then gets harder when I find another track out of order to post. So have to go back and edit posts.

On Roger, I hear his system at every show. He has the identical setup with three single chairs in a row.

Studio Electric, Modwright Instruments, Wy Wires.
Ball Of Fire by Ernest Ranglin. https://shz.am/t10809302

They use a neat composite of material to make the outside veneer so it is not from a tree. The Wenge pattern and feel of the cabinet was excellent -- just like the real thing (we have Wenge cabinets at home).

The sound was "OK."

Wish I Could by Norah Jones. https://shz.am/t44832136

Speakers too close (a problem at many suites). Not bad but soundstage tiny between the speakers.

Oh no what sacrilege. Many, many people have sung this. I think Jeff Buckley's was head and shoulders above any version I have ever heard.

A shame the way he died.

What's that installed on the speakers bindingposts?
I think it is a synergistic research "XOT." Here is what they say about it:

"XOTs are parallel filters for speaker crossovers that terminate directly to the leads of your speakers. XOTs deliver a significant increase in resolution accompanied by a lowering of your systems noise floor for more holographic sound. Terminated in either spade or banana connections, XOTs are sold with a no-risk 60-day money back guarantee.

Synergistic Research XOTs deliver:

  • a significant increase in resolution
  • a lowering of your systems noise floor
  • more holographic and natural soundstage
XOT Carbon - Crossover Transducer
Come in pairs with spades or banana termination, for bi-wire configuration you'll need two pairs. MSRP is $449/pair with a no-risk 60-day money back guarantee"
