Arriving next week, some say they are better than the superb Kii THREE ,Dutch&Dutch's new 8C monitors.

These might be the best FR, phase, and dispersion plots I've ever seen:

This further confirms my axiom that there is no point in buying anything except active monitors with DSP optimization built-in.

This the beginning of the end for passive speakers*.

*(Okay, they'll stick around forever, too, like OTL tube amps and horns. But they're post-peak.)

Both Kii and Dutch & Dutch are tiny.

How long before one of the big boys (Focal, KEF, Dynaudio, B&W, Harman) adopts the same approach and drops the price in half?

How's that possible? They're not even sprayers, and horn loaded to boot? ;)

You mean wave guided...
OK, if you want to get technical (this is ASR after all) ;)
They're not even sprayers, and wave guided to boot!

Bet the drivers are even highly efficient.

They do look good there designer has heard the Kii's next to the 8C's and prefer the 8C's but he would wouldn't he!
Kii THREE and Dutch& Dutch together!
Notice the expensive high quality stands that the 8C are on!

Actually, looking at the power and max SPL, I don't think the drivers are particularly efficient, although they seem high excursion.

Time to move to balanced with the big boys.

Been there done that, I found no obvious advantage to balanced in my domestic hifi setup.. At the time preferred my preamp and amps (both single ended) over the krell gear I was using ( all balanced)

But yes, I'd likely sell everything if I went active. I'd rather 12" bass woofers though.

I'm skeptical of the birch plywood....

Plywood isn't usually considered superior to MDF from a technical POV.
