Blues is very deep in my veins. It's the music that shakes my most vulnerable chords.
Why? Because it's the one that talks directly to our love affairs under the rain and all turbulence...
...The stories we have experienced, the most dramatic ones with broken hearts and injustice...
...The slow and hooking beats of the crying sky above the fragmented stars...

Blues is number one in my personal life.

This guy I like (he's under my skin) ↑ but there are about one million more that I like their Blues too.
...Like Doug MacLeod:

What is your Blues...Ronnie Earl, Joe Bonamassa, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Junior Wells, Buddy Guy, James Cotton, ...?

Hi Bob
Ronnie is the man.
Have been listening too Dion's three blues disc lately. Really like how he plays this genre. His voice still has it and does a fine job with his Martin.

I was born and raised in Chicago and lived there for 62 years. Chicago Blues was my
bread and butter for clubing. On the near west side is a small (bigger now) club called FitzGeralds, in the day a capacity of around 300 hundred. I spend many a night there partying with just about every major Chicago blues artist. I clearly remember the night I partyed with Lonnie Brooks and son Ronnie Baker Brooks on Lonnies either 60th or 65th birthday. That was a night to remember

Another of my fav's were the numerous nights I spent there with Son Seals. That man sure could put on a show and get us up a dancing. RIP Son, you left us too soon.

Sal, I thought you live in Florida, and that you were a Soul/Motown music lover, plus a Frank Sinatra's big fan.
So you lived in Chicago most of your life, and moved to Florida later on? ...Then you are a true genuine Chicago Blues born and raised vibrating guy.

* There are so many variations of Blues. Mississippi Delta Blues...African Blues origins.
Charlie Patton, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters...etc.

** In that other Rock&Roll music thread we 'sliced' some Soul & Motown music genre...The Temptations...The Supremes...Joan Osborne...The Funk Brothers...
The Rolling Stones, even The Beatles were highly influenced by the Blues. Even Soul Train...John Coltrane...was Blues influenced. ...And yet...it's jazzy/saxy.

*** Furthermore, Rock & Blues music has also Classical music influences...John Sebastian Bach, Ludwig Beethoven, Amadeus Mozart, ...and the entire gang.

Music genres are all related, and two billion years ago they were playing...
Today we're here, in the now, and sharing the music we love playing and listening to, on our hi-fi stereo and multichannel sound systems. We're surrounded by life's essence; sweet sounds of music and vocals.
Life is ♪ beautiful when the Blues takes over all your body and soul. ...Life, Love & the Blues → Etta James.

Lived in inner Chicago till 2011 when I retired and moved to Fl, can't take the cold anymore with my arthritis. There's very little popular music I don't love except most of the newer genres (rap hiphop, etc, BLAH) But yep R&B is the music of my generation and both Motown and Blues run in my blood. I spent over 30 years in Ftizgeralds listening to some of the greatest blues artists of the day. I sorely miss those days, the great small intimate clubs of the time like Buddy Guy's and Wise Fools where we not only got entertained but rubbed elbows with the artists between sets becoming friends for the night.
Miss KoKo Talor, come on out!

YouTube does NOT do justice to the following traditional blues:
Son House - John the Revelator
Slim Harpo - I'm A King Bee

Of course youtube is low res audio...but it still gives us an aperçu.

I like the "sound" (instrumentation style guitar...) on that interpretation (2nd video).

I'm sure most of you have seen this but for those who haven't be sure to check out the movie Cadillac Records.
A good history of Chess Records in Chicago and the blues artists of the time. I sure not reallife accurate but the
soundtrack is to die for, all the covers are very well done. Beyonce's cover of Etta James tunes made me cry

If you want an energising dose of houserockin' blues I would highly recommend this:

https://www.muziekweb.nl/Link/JAX2635/Hound-Dog-Taylor-a-tribute

Unfortunately, the one track on YouTube I found from this album is poorly uploaded - the actual recording quality is superb, with tremendous PRaT - on a good system this will keep on delivering, at any volume you desire - fabulous stuff !!
