I own a custom build NCx500 and it stays cool. I would send it to Apollon. There seems to be something wrong with the power supply. Did you order it with the correct mains voltage? The power supply can be switched with a jumper between 115 qand 230 volt.

The exact room mode can only be seen by measurement. So adjust the EQ and remeasure if you hit it. If not change F, Q and amplitude till it fits ;)

As EQ can only be done with USB I guess they calculate EQ in the XMOS processor that normally got used for USB audio connectivity. Doing so the algorithm may use integer math and this may cause this strange effect o_O

It's easy: Set the gain of the Amp to low. Check whether you can still tolerate the volume at the 0dB setting of the DAC. If not, insert an XLR attenuator adapter into the connection cable like this one for example. If it's not loud enough at 0dB increase the gain setting. Best DrCWO

Sure, but get a Raspberry Pi for 50$ and my rooExtend for example and you will be fine ;) Edit: And caused by the full metal case it has a touch of High End like the X-Sable DACs that also have a machined case.

Same performance as D50 III but price 50 times cheaper. Like that :)

I found Pro Tools Into that supports AAX plugins for free :) Does anyone of you know if I can connect a USB Audio interface to my Win PC and run the AAX plugin from digital in to digital out via this interface in realtime? Edit: Can virtual Audio cable be used with it and what about Roon...

Why to get an amp without noise and distortion and afterwards add noise and distortion by tubes? This looks strange to me. If you like noise and distortions better get a tube amp and save the money for the NCx500 ;)

I had the chance to hear the latest Perlisten speaker at an audio show in Darmstadt last summer and was very impressed. Best speaker of the show :)

Just get one of the cheap DACs with high SINAD and compare. If your amp is starte of the art you should be able to hear the difference :)
