I thought DMS did a nice job with this video analysing the power output from a M2 MacBook Pro headphone jack:
From my own experience I would mostly agree with his findings, while not adequate for some headphones, the extra power from the updated MacBook Pro headphones jacks will work well for...
Because GoldenSound is the DAC + headphone amplifier 'specialist' reviewer on headphones.com ( rather than a headphone or IEM reviewer ) - it is in his benefit and headphones.com benefit to declare differences in all DAC and headphone amplifiers he reviews, so he has 'new' content to review.
GS...
I think this is the key - a specific headphone with a crazy peak in that exact region - boosting this signal and then GS being in that 0.1% of individuals able to detect something in that region.
Mostly the 48V 10A is for 2 V3 Monos - they have an option to buy 2 separate 48V 5A power supplies with each mono block or a splitter with the since 48V 10A. Looking at the version Amir tested it was a 48V 5A.
So, I am guessing the 10A on a single V3 Mono is reaching the limit of what it is...
Yes I agree this is both a strange review and probably the worst review by Erin - I am not sure his really cares about amplifiers the way he does about speakers - IMO he should review this amplifier like he might a cheaper bookshelf speaker - i.e. does it measure well given its contraints
That seems convenient! I.e. this sounds like "trust me I can ABX 2 different DAC's with the same filters but I decided not to publish my proof".
While its a great achievement to hear differences even at his age in this treble region - I think saying 2 SOTA "DACs sound different" is different...
Looks very interesting - seems like adding a touchscreen and a companion app is becoming a standard feature - I wonder how this will be priced compared to the WiiM Ultra and say the Eversolo offerings and the FiiO R7.
Maybe he is really a young "Hans Beekhuyzen" where you see some good measurement gear in the background at the start of a review but by the end of the review you realise he never used that gear :D :D :D
Seems such a waste of time and I agree the video is sadly click-bait. Though for the first section of the video was a nice setup to what I had hoped really was something special, the later half of the video was effectively - I have manipulated the Frequency Response using 2 extremes DAC filters...
I work as a Software Architect / Engineer and I remember years ago some manager wanting me to document everything we were doing on a very technical project and I told him the source code was the ultimate documentation. He was not very impressed :D
I would stick with the TI 3255 (with PFFB) and hopefully keep the costs down - until we all add lots of other features which will drive up the cost again ;)
So I would Vote 1C 2A
But if you can integrate a high pass filter on speaker output when the subwoofer is connected and some...
