There is no obligation whatsoever that as a reviewer I test for any and all things. I don't know any reviewer that tests for safety of products. By your logic, no one should review any audio gear or for that matter, anything else! Should a wine reviewer send said wine for toxicology analysis...

My guess is that the much higher level of activity on the XMOS IC is causing noise/ground bounce to bleed into the output of the DAC. Having a DAC powered by a USB source may aggravate this. If I were less lazy, I would test it with a separate power supply to see if it goes away. :)

As I have mentioned, their target has been headphones and there, you apply EQ to both channels. This being a tiny DAC, has less application to home use in their mind.

It is spec'ed to support up to 192 khz and indeed, I tested that and it works fine.

Linearity test works at one very narrow frequency (200 Hz). It doesn't matter what else to do to the rest of the response. I showed you how well EQ works with the dashboard FFT.

It applies to both channels. I would think it is not hard to split them so hopefully this can come in the future. In their focus on headphones, they didn't need to do this.

It both reads and exports .csv files. I don't remember if REW's generic export is like this but if not, it is not hard to make it so. But again, their focus is headphone equalization, not room. On the cost, it would have been that without EQ.

This is not a binary thing. A bit of bias is different than completely be sold to the other side.

It is source independent. In my case I have EQ in Roon but when I play youtube, there isn't one.

Test equipment we use has great stability with respect to what we test. It is not like the audio gear has that kind of calibration. Calibration is for traceability. And for contracts that mandate it.

It is stored on the DAC. You don't need the app after the initial configuration.
