    BTW, i didn't mean Tubes are ugly per-se:), just this combination, and indeed as Ropeburn already mentioned, the "strategic location" so close to the tonearm :rolleyes:

    You probably have (had) bad luck with your CD's then. I bought my first CD player in '85 or '86 along with 4 CD's they all still play! of all CD's i ever bought since (600 and counting), only 3 or so didn't play in any of the regular CD players, however i still was able to rip them with my PC...

    Hi, Could it be time- related?, aka, how much time passed between listening to one setup, moving to the next one. If it was more than lets say, 10-20 seconds between, are you sure you really heard a real difference?, our memory usually isn't that great.
